Community Service Tour

Partnering with established Chinese nonprofit organizations and local government, we offer a volunteer teaching tour in rural areas of Guangxi province. A lot of villages in Guangxi have the stunning beauty of mountains, but are considered the poorest and most rural regions of China.

You’ll volunteer in the Zhuang/Yao/Dong minority villages of Guangxi, where residents are actively working to preserve their heritage and cultural traditions. Begin working on a project that will impact the community through a Village Community Service Project. Possible projects include volunteer farming, cleaning up, and teaching. You’ll be interacting daily with a culture that celebrates sustainable, communal living. You’ll learn about environmental issues and coral restoration, and discuss problems facing modern-day rice farmers.

By taking the time to teach these things you will have a lasting impact on the development of these young children.Placements range from kindergartens to high school in rural areas across the Guangxi. With the local teacher’s assist, you will handle varied class sizes which is typically between 20 and 30 students. You will use curriculum materials and books as well as songs and other fun activities to teach conversational English.

Try your hand at local farm work. You will have an important role as a volunteer promoting responsible and sustainable farming practices in local communities. This is also the best opportunity to learn how and where your food usually comes from. You’ll farm side by side with ethnic minorities, help with harvesting, and learn how minority residents are working to make their food systems more sustainable and biodynamic.
